Are You Lonesome Tonight

Written by Roy Turk and Lou Handman in 1926. Elvis recorded it April 4, 1960 at RCA Nashville studios, reportedly at the request of Colonel Parker. It entered Billboards Hot 100 chart at #35; it was #2 in the second week, the biggest one week jump within the Top 40 history. It stayed #1 for six weeks. It reached #22 on the country chart and #3 on the rhythm & blues chart. In England, it was #1 for four weeks.

I’ve been playing the fiddle since I was 4.  Here’s some funny pics of me as a kid=)

The River

I learned this song when I was a little girl because I was a big fan of Garth Brooks.

The song is a mid-tempo country pop ballad in which a river is used as a comparison to one’s dreams. Through the lyric, the narrator says that he will continue to pursue his dreams.

Garth provided the following background information on the song in the CD booklet liner notes from The Hits:
“Of all songs, most of the letters I receive concern “The River.” It is a song of inspiration… a song that I will be proud of a hundred years from now. Victoria Shaw is a wonderful writer and a wonderful friend. And this is what happens when two dreamers get together and write from the heart. One of the greatest awards that this song has ever received was the fact that it was played at Dale Wehr’s funeral. Quite and honor, cowboy. ~Wikipedia

Tennessee Flat Top Box

I’ve loved this song ever since learned it when I was 9 on my little nylon string guitar. ~Susie

“Tennessee Flat Top Box” is a song written and recorded by American country music singer Johnny Cash. It was released as a single in late 1961, reaching #11 on the Billboard country singles charts and #84 on the pop charts.[1] The song’s name refers to a steel stringed acoustic guitar.
The song is a story of a little boy aspiring to be a country singer, who starts his career at a local cabaret in a South Texas border town. He has no physical abilities, only his ability to play the guitar, which he loves so much that making money is secondary to him. He becomes so popular that girls “from there to Austin” would secretly leave home and pawn jewelry for money to make the trip to hear him play.

Shotgun Girl

written by Danelle Leverett & Derek Ruttan

I like to hold your hand up high on the Ferris wheel
And how front porch swingin’ with you makes me feel
Yeah, but when you pull up in your big ol’ truck
I can’t climb up in it fast enough

‘Cause I’m your shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylon, Willie and Merle
So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
‘Cause boy I’m your shotgun girl

Yeah, I’m your shotgun girl

There’s not a piece of road ‘round here we ain’t burned down
Except that stretch that heads on outta town
Whenever you need to feel that freedom
Leave a little room for me

‘Cause I’m your shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylon, Willie and Merle
So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
‘Cause boy, I’m your shotgun girl

Yeah, I’m your shotgun girl

Yeah I’m your shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylon, Willie and Merle
So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
‘Cause boy I’m your shotgun girl

I’m your shotgun girl, yeah, yeah
I’m calling shotgun baby, yeah, yeah
